OUR
STORY
The Dubai Divots were first formed in 2010 by James Evans, Scott Sigsworth , Paul Miles, Richard Holmes....
It is not often a Golf Society is such an instant success, but the Dubai Divots broke the mould when we were first established in 2010. Originally we raised considerable sums for charities, but with the changing of the laws governing charity in Dubai we regrettably decided to no longer raise funds... However, that may change in the future.
The very essence of the society is to ensure we have fun and a great game of golf.. enjoying each others company, and letting the fun spill into the evening and sometimes.. beyond !
We are an expat society, mostly from the UK and a sprinkling from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Korea, Europe....
We welcome both male and female members. Having a diverse membership is seen as an asset and broadens minds and experiences.
If you would like to join the Dubai Divots, then please fill in the form in the membership section of this website...
OUR TEAM
Andrew Bannister . Captain
Andrew has been a member of the Divots since it started in 2010.. As a 'senior' member, he takes over a role that has been previously occupied by those who he will find very hard to surpass.
Andrew is an architect and also represents Corre Energy PLC for the region.. He is the Group Architect for NewEvolution and Jadco here in the UAE
More recently, Andrew has been appointed Corporate Relations Director for the charity GULF FOR GOOD helping children in need internationally..
Andrew did not start playing golf until he reached 50 years, but that does not excuse him from being a bandit from time to time.
Adam Smith
Vice Captain
Adam also has big shoes to fill, but has risen to the challenge and he brings something new to the Divots. Just what that is we will find out soon... An original 2010 member, often a sponsor and always eager to pay for the rounds of beverages.... !!!
Adam has built a strong and successful base for his company Polypipe from the UK, and is recognised in the industry of.. pipes .. !
If only Adam played more golf, we reckon he could get down or near to being a scratch player, but alas, he has a company and a wife to look after ( no particular order ! )
James Evans
Legacy Consultant..and
Event specialist
When you ask James how he got this role, he will say that he never accepted it.. but as the societies first Captain and a true inspiration within the Divots, we will not let him retire, ever... He can complain as much as he wants to, it will come to no avail.
James works in Dubai in the construction industry and has recently taken several leaps up the ladder in senior roles in Dubai.
The Divots without James would not be the same... not saying why though !
