Under circumstances where we normally have between 30 to 40 or more, I can only put this down to bad timing for members travels and availability.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The AGM will be the evening of the 16th OCTOBER at Montgomery Golf Club 8PM. ( outside quiet area ) and we would like as many to attend as possible.
The consensus is for Andrew to continue as Captain, are there any objections ?
Names and immediate voting for a new Vice Captain. Please note that our existing VC Adam Smith has undertaken extensive new responsibilities at his work, and he is keen to see someone with more time to assist. Adam will remain a vital part of the Divots. Names put forward for VC to date: Mike Gopal
Handicap referee. We need to agree a sensible system for handicaps that allow for those who want to be EGF or NOT to be included and accepted.
Entertainment, F&B organiser. The organising of an event has two elements, the Golf and the potential for F&B after the event, or even on additional non golf events. A person with or without assistants needs to be "volunteered" for the non golf part....
Wednesday evenings at Par3 Trump ? Do we continue with this weekly event and if so will it remain at Trump Par3, or include other destinations ?
Charity support will continue, but how it is conducted needs to be agreed. The Dubai Divots have, since formation, donated to charity, this will continue, but it is noted that it is not compulsory for every member to donate. Positive input is sought for how we can make this better.
The Dubai Divots have been a "no joining fee", "no monthly subs" based society. This is because we have had sponsors to provide the prizes. However, if this is to continue, then more support to find those sponsors is required. Our existing sponsors have been amazing, long may that continue.
I understand that the AGM is not a fully conventional one, but we need to get this season off asap and enjoy the benefits of being in a FUN inclusive society that accepts people from all backgrounds, genders and abilities....
11th November AlAin Golf Club
The next main monthly event has been set for 11th November at AlAin Golf Course with option for a stay over... so far we have 11 signed up and again we need this to be 20 plus, hopefully even more... The new committee members will be required to assist in this, and so that we can start our winter series on a high....
